Many reports are not written in a scientifically defensible manner.  A common problem of doctors is failing to identify the error rates associated with their conclusions, failing to base conclusions on sufficient facts or data, and failing to account for alternative explanations.  I regularly review forensic mental health reports and consult with attorneys on how to address errors, baseless conclusions, and alternative explanations for the data.
